A Few Days Later… and Still Reflecting
It’s been a few days since I completed the final leg of my Laps for Life charity swim at Rottnest Island, and yet, something is still with me. Not the physical tiredness—that faded quickly. Not the salt or sunburn—they’ve come and gone too. What’s stayed are the stories. The connections. There was a sense that we were all part of something quietly powerful.
A Swim That Started Out Personal
When I decided to return to Rottnest to complete the last 600 metres of my Laps for Life swim, I thought it would be about finishing something personal. But as I stood on the beach and looked around, I saw something much more profound. Other swimmers. Other stories. Other reasons. I met a young woman from South Korea who was out seeking a sense of adventure. Others had lost someone. Some were swimming for mental clarity. And all of us, in our own way, were swimming for a cause that matters—youth mental health. What struck me wasn’t just the diversity of the people I met, but the unity of intention. We were all there to contribute something that went beyond ourselves.
Legacy Isn’t Always Loud
The original swim left 600 metres unfinished—an unresolved loop. Going back to complete it gave me peace… but also gave me perspective. Ready to Create a Life That Feels Like a LegacyThis swim cost very little—but what I gained back, I can’t quite measure. And I know I’m not the only one who felt that.
Financial Planning Is About More Than Numbers
A few weeks ago, I published a blog on my newly launched website, titled “Why Financial Planning Is More Than Just Numbers”. This experience has only deepened that belief. Financial planning, to me, isn’t about charts and products. It’s about clarity, purpose, and possibility. It’s about helping people create lives—and legacies—that matter. And sometimes that starts with something as simple as a swim.
Thank You—and Let’s Keep Going
To everyone who supported me, shared the journey, or simply asked “how did it go?”—thank you. This experience reminded me that when we show up for something bigger than ourselves, we never walk (or swim) alone. And I’ll be back at Rottnest next year. Same cause. Same intention. Maybe even a few new stories to carry forward.
